Gov't proposes changes to debtors' blacklist

The government will propose an amendment to the law on credit institutions which would require lenders to inform debtors before including them on a blacklist, and allow them legal redress, government spokesman András Batiz said yesterday. Batiz said Hungary financial market regulator PSzÁF and the data protection ombudsman have received numerous complaints from private citizens whose names have been placed on a debtor's blacklist without their knowledge. Citizens have also complained they may not legally challenge their inclusion on the list. (Econews; NG 2, Nv 4)
