Generali-Providencia pays out 23% more on weather-related claims in first seven months

Generali-Providencia Insurance Rt paid 23% more on claims for damages due to the weather in the first seven months of 2005 than in the same period a year earlier, communications officer Borbála Váry-Papp said on Thursday. Between January and the end of July this year, the insurer paid Ft 630 million on claims from farming policies, 43% more than in the same period of 2004. Generali paid more than Ft 900 million on claims for damages caused by storm and heavy rainfall in the first seven months of this year. Figures from the Hungarian Insurance Association (Mabisz) show Generali-Providencia paid a combined Ft 25.84 billion on claims in the first half of the year, including Ft 6.19 billion on life insurance polices and Ft 19.65 billion on non-life insurance policies.
