Finance Minister stands by 2% inflation target for 2006

The government will stand by its 2% annual inflation projection for 2006, in spite of an expected increase in global energy prices, Finance Minister János Veres said, daily Népszabadság reported. This year, the Finance Ministry projects average inflation of 3.5%. Global energy prices are expected to increase over the next six months to a year because of the interruption in output at some US refineries because of Hurricane Katrina, Veres said.
