Opposition leader Fidesz gained advantage on major coalition party Hungarian Socialist Party (MSzP), polling institute Medián stated in a research conducted in early May. The growing difference was due to increasing uncertainty among Socialist voters, while the supporter base of Fidesz did not change significantly. Fidesz?s advantage over MSzP was 8% within the entire population and 18% among committed voters, Medián found. According to the report, the most popular Hungarian politician is Katalin Szili, who took over the lead from long-time favorite Ibolya Dávid, President of the conservative Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF).
