Ferihegy receives more passengers than EU average

The passenger traffic at Budapest Ferihegy airport increased by 30% in February 2005 compared to the same period of last year, Budapest Airport (BA) Rt announced. Ferihegy is expected to welcome the 1 millionth passenger at Easter, BA said. BA registered 432,664 passengers in February, the first two months of the year saw 900,000 passengers at Ferihegy. The number of passengers travelling by low-cost carriers reached 136,000, thus one-third of the total traffic is carried by no-frill airlines. BA received 2,174 tons of cargo and mail in February, which is the same as a year ago. The average traffic extension of aiports in Europe was 8.1%.
