Ferihegy: Private or Public Interest?

The government has started an investigation about closing Budapest Ferihegy airport's cargo delivery center. The investigation must find out if state-owned Budapest Airport Rt plans to buy the area for an undoubtedly high price. Budapest Airport published a press release on February 19, in which the company states that the cargo base contract is legal, but its payment has been susupended until the end of the government investigation. The company has informed the Prime Minister's Office on this issue and has initiated the investigation itself. The land to buy would cost Ft 24,000/sq.m., which is an extremely high price. Two years ago State Motorway Management Rt representing the Hungarian State bought and expropriated land in the same area for Ft 2,200/sq.m for the construction of a local section of M0 motorway.
