Nearly two weeks after the nationwide protest rally of agricultural producers began, wire agency MTI learned about single-lane closures by farmers. The demonstrators blocked one lane on 12 roads leading to border crossings along Hungary?s borders with Austria and Slovakia, demanding the payement of EU agricultural subsidies, protection against cheap imports and efficient management of last year?s grain surplus, which farmers are unable to sell. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have continued talks this week without tanglible results as yet.
