Although the first stock exchange in Hungary opened 141 years ago, the second stock exchange, now called Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT), only opened 15 years ago. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the BÉT as well as to remember the 84 years of existence of the first stock exchange (1864-1948), an exhibition was opened yesterday in the visitor's center of the National Bank (MNB). At the opening ceremony, MNB CEO Zsigmond Járay and BÉT CEO Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy explained the historic relationship of the two institutions and MNB's role in the foundation of the new stock exchange. The unprecedented exhibition includes old photographies, contemporary stocks and relics. (NG 13) E.C.
