The delegates of electricity industry workers and employers agreed on an average 7.5% payrise for this year late last night. Having concluded wage talks successfully, trade union leaders called off a nationwide strike scheduled for Feb. 25. The agreement secures a retroactive raise of Ft 6.5% as of January, with a further pay rise of one percentage point to follow in H2 depending on the financial performance of each company, Chairman Rezs? Gál of the Trade Union Alliance of Electricity Industry Workers told wire service MTI. The workers were demanding an 8% raise for the whole year, or 6.5% now and 2.5% at the end of the year if targets are met.
