Egis nine-month net profit up 61.4%

Drugmaker Egis had unconsolidated net profit of Ft 8.76 billion in the first nine months of its financial year ending September 30, 2005, up 61.4% from the same period a year earlier, according to the company's nine-month financial report. In April-June alone, unconsolidated net profit was Ft 2.47 billion, down from Ft 2.71 billion expected by analysts polled by news portal portfolio.hu. Nine-month unconsolidated sales rose 10.5% to Ft 53.54 billion as domestic sales rose 10.9% to Ft 22.05 billion and exports rose 10.2% to Ft 31.50 billion. In dollar terms, export sales increased 21% to USD 164.3 million. On a consolidated basis, nine-month net profit rose 61.9% from a year earlier to Ft 8.23 billion and consolidated sales rose 6.6 % to Ft 68.72 billion. Consolidated domestic sales came to Ft 35.34 billion in the first nine months of the financial year, up 5.3 % year on year, and exports rose 8.1% to Ft 33.38 billion.
