Economy Minister to reform MÁV

Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) Rt calls for radical reform, the first steps of which will be announced in September, Economy Minister János Kóka said on public television Friday morning. “As an owner I wish to see how ten-billion-forint decisions are made,” the minister said, adding that he did not mean to introduce “manual” control over the company. Kóka said that the company's financing system had to be restructured and its passenger and cargo units should be separated. The minister also said officials in key positions would be replaced wherever necessary.
