EC ongoing procedures against Hungary

In addition to several other problems in the informal discussion stage, the European Commission (EC) has 16 ongoing formal procedures against Hungary for failing to implement various EU directives, according to business daily Világgazdaság. Featured among these are environmental disputes concerning emission trading and public access to environmental records, as well as stock exchange regulations on insider trading and market manipulation, with Hungary acknowledging only one of the above four as issues of concern. Another six complaints pertain to noncompliance with EU plant and animal health directives, in addition to problems in the areas of financial, telecom and port facility services. The Hungarian government considers most of the issues as either resolved, irrelevant or subject to EC approval in the near future. (Vg 5) P.P.
