Dunamenti Power Plant Rt is planning to invest Euro 200 mln to build a new power plant in Százhalombatta, south of Budapest, in a brownfield project, business daily Világgazdaság reported. According to CEO Tibor Kuhl, Dunamenti, owned by the French-Belgian Electrabel-Suez, is hoping to take a final decision on the development within a year. The plans include repowering the existing plant through the installation of new gear turbines or alternatively an entirely new cogeneration plant. Built in the 1960?s, the old plant has 1,800 MW of generator capacity, of which 400 MW is currently being dismantled to make way for the new project, due to be completed by 2010. Owned 25% by MVM Rt, Dunamenti last year had net profit of some Ft 9 billion on revenues of Ft 75 billion.
