State-owned Duna TV Rt may be allowed to launch its new Autonomia channel as early as Christmas, writes daily Népszava. The plans for the channel, which would feature programming on ethnic minorities, were received positively by the media authority ORTT, László Csányi, president of Duna TV told the newspaper. Csányi added that the new channel would provide a platform for broadcasting archive and ORTT-supported Hungarian programming as well. The company also applied for a subsidy of Ft 143 million, mainly to cover the costs of building the technical infrastructure, and it expects a decision after the summer break.
