Yesterday's issue of Croatian weekly Nacional launched an inquiry into the circumstances under which Budapest Mayor Gábor Demszky acquired and renovated a holiday home on the Adriatic seaside. The contract of sale that Demszky submitted to the Croatian Environment, Development and Construction Ministry contained false information regarding the sale price to evade high taxes, the newspaper claimed, adding that the reconstruction work was also done by illegal workers. Nacional took a vacation from the truth when printing the article, Demszky said, requesting a detailed correction and determined to seek legal remedy if need be.
