Croatia and Hungary submit joint bid for Euro 2012

Representatives of Croatia and Hungary submitted a joint bid to host the 2012 European Football Championship, the chairman of the Hungarian Football Association announced. The joint bid had been approved unequivocally by Croatian parliament and by a 97% majority in Hungarian parliament. In addition to the Croatian-Hungarian joint bid to host the event, Poland and Ukraine submitted a joint bid and individual bids were submitted by Italy, Greece, Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan. The Union of the European Football Association (UEFA) will make a shortlist consisting of three bids on November 7 and 8 this year and the final decision will be made on 6 December next year. Hungary has submitted unsuccessful bids jointly with Austria for Euro 2004 and alone for Euro 2008.
