The Competition Office (GVH) starts competition-surveillance inquiry against Hungarian state railway company MÁV Rt. due to suspicion of economic dominance abuse ? business daily Napi Gazdaság reported. Subject of the inquiry is the company?s potential monopolistic business practice in connection with private railroad companies that have entered market after EU-accession. Private companies must sign a contract with MÁV with respect to usage of railroads and other railway infrastructure, since MÁV is the provider of all these. Several companies have given voice to their discontent concerning the access to rails and the circumstances of the contracts.
