The National Radio and Television Board (ORTT) has renewed the licences of commercial television stations RTL Klub and TV2 for five more years until 2012, ORTT members told news wire MTI. The five-member board approved the extensions by a vote of 4 to 1, with the opposition Fidesz-delegated member voting against it. The licences, which includes a commitment to provide 30% public service content, require payment of an annual concession fee of Ft 1.5 billion. RTL Klub is 49% owned by the German RTL Group SA and TV2 is owned by MTM-SBS, part of the European broadcaster SBS group. The two channels together account for 90% of the Hungarian commercial TV market in nearly equal shares.
