Businesses to add staff over next year

Around 30% of Hungarian businesses plan to hire new staff over the next year, said
an Employment Ministry survey published on Tuesday. About 60% of businesses surveyed said they planned to keep their number of employees unchanged in the following twelve months, while 10% that plan to reduce their workforce. The number of employed will rise 1.2 % in the next quarter, and 1.7 % over a year, the report said. Small businesses will be the quickest to hire new staff. Companies with fewer than 10 employees said they would increase their workforce by 20 % by July 2006, while those with fewer than 50 employees said they expected to hire 6 % more workers during the same period. Medium-size and big businesses said they plan, on average, a 1% increase in employee numbers. Big businesses alone said they planned to make job cuts.
