Brain drain makes job market unstable

Hungary's labor market is unbalanced, suffering strains both from an outflow of young professionals and an influx of cheap foreign labor, which encourages black labor, Világgazdaság said yesterday. Researchers, IT professionals and engineers are highly represented among the 158,000 Hungarians seriously toying with the idea of taking up work abroad, Világgazdaság reported. According to a recent survey by economic research firm GKI, 15% of those considering leaving Hungary for jobs are graduates and 41% of them are skilled in a vocation, Világgazdaság said. The survey shows that young researchers, typically those who take part in a PhD program abroad, find it difficult to find appropriate jobs in Hungary and prefer to stay in the country where they were educated.
