Hungary is to sign an offset contract worth USD 12.5 million with US airplane manufacturer Boeing. The two parties plan to sign the agreement within weeks, and it will take effect in January, with the offset process starting in February or March. Hungary is joining the air control and warning management organization NAPMO NATO operating the AWACS fleet. Hungary's share of costs is USD 12.5 million to be paid over several years. This sum of money will be "paid back" according to the offset contract. Its most important item is a training program on software quality assurance systems, courses can be attended for free by IT companies, András Szilágyi chief counselor to Economy Ministry said.
