Avalon fined for misleading advert

The Competition Office has fined Avalon Team Kft., a marketer of dietary supplements, for misleading statements concerning the curative effect of its products, business daily Napi Gazdaság reported. Besides paying the Ft 30 million fine, the company is required to announce the finding in paid advertisements. According to the Competition Office, the CEO of Avalon Team used to be an executive officer at another company fined for a similar offence earlier, which was considered an aggravating circumstance. Under current laws, dietary supplements may not be advertised with references to their potential curative effects.
