August trade deficit up €48 mln yr/yr

Hungary's foreign trade deficit in August was €386 million, €48 million more than the same month in 2004, according to preliminary figures announced by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Friday. Exports rose 16.7% year-on-year to €3.784 billion, and August imports increased 16.5% to €4.17 billion. The preliminary deficit in the first eight months stood at €1.881 billion, down €1.06 billion from the same period of 2004. January-August exports increased 10.2% year-on-year to €31.098 billion, while imports increased 5.8% to €32.979 billion, according to the first KSH estimate. The KSH will publish detailed revised foreign trade figures for August and for the first eight months on October 28.
