Aegon plans to expand in Croatia and Romania

Aegon NV plans to expand in Croatia and Romania, using its Hungarian subsidiary as a hub for operations in Eastern Europe, daily business Napi Gazdaság reported, citing Chairman Donald Shepard. Aegon, the second-largest Dutch insurer, has been expanding in Eastern Europe to benefit from economies and wages that are growing faster than in the west.
The company at the same time named Gábor Kepecs, head of its
Hungarian unit, to run its operations in the region. Aegon used the
Budapest-based subsidiary to start operations in Slovakia in 2003.
