2004 foreign trade deficit stays within Ft 1,000 bln mark

Hungary?s 2004 trade deficit was no less than Ft 976 billion, however, this is Ft 76 less than the previous year?s figure, according to the preliminary figures of the Central Statistical Office (KSH). Imports and exports rose 13% and 15% on 2003, respectively. December imports totaled Ft 975 billion, while the value of exports was Ft 912 billion, resulting in a Ft 63 billion deficit for the month. The value of goods that entered the country in the last month of the year rose 2% yr/yr, with exports increasing by 7% in the meantime. Trade with the EU accounted for 69% of imports and 76% of exports in December.
