TI Hungary survey shows poor transparency among state companies

History

Of the 66 Hungarian state companies whose websites have been assessed by Transparency International (TI) Hungary, only two received 90 points of 100 on a scale devised by the watchdog to measure public-sector enterprises’ fulfillment of the legal obligation to make company data public.

TI Hungary project leader Krisztina Papp informed at a press conference today that the average rating granted to the Hungarian state companies surveyed was 46/100.

Managing directors at just seven of the companies were willing to be interviewed by TI Hungary and an additional five responded to written questions, managing director Péter József stated, adding that in 2015 a list of the companies’ relative transparency will be published by TI.
