Serbian FM calls for compromise over Kosovo
The status of Kosovo should be settled through a compromise, or else the Balkans may end up deluged by a multitude of new problems, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said here on Wednesday, according to MTI News Agency’s report.
The problem calls for a solution in which there are no winners or losers, Jeremic said during talks with Zsolt Németh, head of the foreign affairs and ethnic Hungarians committee of the Hungarian parliament. Jeremic noted that his government was making serious efforts to work out a solution that fosters peace, stability and prosperity in the region. On the subject of the ethnic Hungarian community in northern Serbia’s Vojvodina province, Jeremic said that his government supported the idea of granting dual citizenship to ethnic minorities. Németh welcomed Serbia’s openness concerning the dual citizenship issue. (peopledaily.com)
