Govt to decide on PPP buyouts when fiscal trends allow

History

The government will take a decision on buying out public private partnerships (PPPs) this year or next if fiscal trends allow it, National Economy Minister György Matolcsy said in a written answer to a question by an opposition MP posted on the website of Parliament.

"The buyout of the PPPs is a budget item, which means that ensuring the necessary funds takes place in the framework of financing the fiscal deficit, no earmarked financing is necessary," Matolcsy said.

The government announced in the spring plans to buy out PPPs at an estimated cost of 0.7% of GDP or HUF 200bn in 2011.
