Fidesz-friendly survey finds support for fence on the Serbian border

History

Most everyone has heard about the temporary fence on the Serbian border, and 61% support the idea, while 27% are against it, according to a survey by Századvég, a research institute that is reported to have close ties to the ruling Fidesz party, Hungarian news agency MTI said yesterday.

Századvég claims it conducted the survey by calling 1,000 people on the phone, and surveying their opinions. Some 97% of the participants Századvég called had heard about the temporary fence that the Hungarian government is building along the Serbian-Hungarian border to keep illegal immigrants out of Hungary, MTI reports.

According to Századvég, the political attitudes of the respondents chiefly influence their feelings about the fence.
