Bencsik denies that Orbán discussed ad spending

History

The versions of last Friday's discussion between Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the government-friendly media varied.

The editor-in-chief of government-friendly Demokrata magazine, András Bencsik told index.hu yesterday that Orbán spoke to representatives of not only the right-wing media, about the challenges of the year ahead but he also gave a summary of 2014 without any mention of the distribution of public money in the media.

Bencsik spoke with MTI only hours after a report had been published on vs.hu about Orbán warning directors of right-wing media that the government does not intend to spend public money for advertising on private right-wing media any longer. HírTV’s editor did not deny the news, while the editor-in-chief of Magyar Nemzet refused to comment.
