KSH: Hungary’s retail sales up 5.1% in September
Retail sales in Hungary saw a year-on-year increase of 5.1% in September, according to both raw and calendar-adjusted data, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported today.
In September, sales in the national retail trade network as well as in mail order and internet retailing were HUF 795 billion at current prices, with food, drink and tobacco stores accounting for 45% of all retail sales, KSH said. The relevant figures for non-food retail shops and the network of petrol stations were 38% and 17%, respectively, KSH added.
In year-on-year terms, the volume of sales increased by 3% in specialized and non-specialized food retailing. The volume of sales rose by 3% in food, drinks and tobacco stores, by 6.9% in non-food retail trade and by 6.1% in automotive fuel retailing, KSH said.
Sales in motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts and accessories stores – not regarded as retailing by the European Statistical System – decreased by 9.4%, KSH reported.
In January-September 2015, the volume of sales – according to both raw and calendar adjusted data – was 5.9% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to KSH.
