Hungarian Mars arm to host regional production
The Hungarian unit of US-based food giant Mars targets gross revenue of Ft 56 bln – Ft 57 bln in 2008.
The figure is to top the more than Ft 50 billion collected in 2007, Mars Magyarország (MM) managing director Tamás Ács said on Monday.
More than half of MM's revenue comes from pet food, one-third comes from sweets and 10% from other foods. Domestic sales account for about Ft 15 billion of revenue.
MM recently completed a Ft 1.4 billion capacity expansion at its pet food plant, boosting output by one-fifth and adding a new premium brand to the plant's product palette. They supply all Europe with the new product from Hungary.
MM buys an annual Ft 10 billion of base materials, mainly grain, from domestic suppliers. (MTI – Econews)
