Halpim: Manufacturing sector nears contraction
Hungary's seasonally-adjusted Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) dropped to 50.7 points in December, down from the previous month’s 55.1 points, the Hungarian Association of Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management (Halpim) reported today. A value below 50 signals contraction of the manufacturing sector, while a value above 50 shows expansion.
According to Halpim, a slowdown in December is typical and, although it exceeded the 50-point average of the last three years, December PMI was still below the long-term average of 52.5 points. Among the sub-indices that comprise the PMI, the production volume index and the new orders index fell from November, while delivery times lengthened further compared to November.
