Government asks Dunaferr to postpone layoffs
The government has asked Dunaferr's senior officials not to lay off any employees until the talks between the government and the company's management are concluded, state secretary in charge of employment policy Sándor Czomba told MTI on Thursday after his talks with the management.
Dunaferr management in turn promised to consider the request, Czomba added. The government announced last week that it would make a buyout offer for the Ukrainian-owned company, which said on August 12 that it would lay off 1,500 people, or about one-fifth of the group's workforce.
