Hungary's consumer price index (CPI) was probably unchanged from a month earlier in May, at minus 0.1% y. o. y. according to analysts polled by business daily Napi Gazdaság.

The analysts put month-on-month CPI at minus 0.1% and annual average inflation in 2014 at 0.5%. Twelve-month CPI was minus 0.1% in April. April consumer prices were up 0.1% from March.

The Central Statistics Office (KSH) will publish May CPI on June 11. Analyst Orsolya Nyeste of Erste Bank said food prices and prices of services could have increased slightly in a month-on-month comparison in May, while petrol prices were probably unchanged. The effect of the government-mandated gas price reduction effective from April 1 must have appeared in retail gas bills mostly this month, she added.
