MNB international reserves up EUR 2 bln in May

International reserves of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) stood at EUR 25.172 billion at the end of May, up just over EUR 2 bln from the end of the previous month, preliminary data released Thursday show, as reported by national news agency MTI.

The reserves were up EUR 1.803 bln from the end of 2017, MTI noted.

In May, currency reserves, which include currency, deposits and securities, stood at EUR 24.462 bln, up a fraction less than EUR 1.9 bln from the previous month.

Other reserve assets, which contain financial derivatives, receivables on active repo transactions and loans to non-bank non-residents, increased by just over EUR 100 million to EUR 232 mln.

Monetary gold reserves stood at EUR 110 mln, up EUR 2.3 mln from the previous month, reserve positions at the International Monetary Fund were up EUR 3.2 mln to EUR 361 mln, and the value of SDRs at the IMF was down EUR 1.7 mln to EUR 7 mln.
