KSH confirms Hungaryʼs retail sales rose 5.1% in September

The volume of Hungary’s retail sales grew by 5.1% in September, compared to the same month a year earlier, according to both raw and calendar-adjusted data, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) confirmed in a second reading of data today.

The volume of sales, adjusted for calendar effects, rose by 4.0% in specialized and non-specialized food shops, by 5.2% in non-food retail shops, and by 7.7% in automotive fuel retail, according to the KSH. 

In September, sales in the national retail trade network as well as in mail order and internet retail totaled HUF 833 billion at current prices, the KSH said. Food, drink and tobacco stores accounted for 45% of all retail sales, while the relevant figures for non-food retail shops and the network of petrol stations were 38% and 17%, respectively, the KSH added.

In the January-September period, as compared to the equivalent period a year earlier, the volume of sales in retail shops increased by 4.9%, while the volume of sales rose by 2.8% in food, drink and tobacco shops, by 7.5% in non-food retail, and by 5.7% in automotive fuel retail, adjusted for calendar effects, according to KSH data.
