Average age of hospital admissions drops 5 years

The highly prevalent British Kent mutation of the coronavirus in circulation in Hungary is causing more serious illness, and the average age of hospital admissions has dropped by about five years, the chief infectious diseases physician at the South Pest Central Hospital János Szlávik told news channel M1.

Experts have found that fever and cough, headache and joint pain are more severe with the British mutation.

According to Szlávik, this means that the "clinical picture" has changed, and the mortality rate has also increased.

He mentioned that vaccinated people and those who had the disease should be examined to determine if they are immune to the new variant.
