European Commission tells Hungary comply with telecom rules

EU

The European Commission on Thursday said Hungary had still not fully implemented new European Union telecoms rules in national law six month after the deadline in May.

The request for Hungary to comply with the rules took the form of a "reasoned opinion".

Similar requests were sent to Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Spain.

The new telecoms rules give EU customers new rights regarding fixed telephony, mobile services and internet access. There is now also better protection of privacy and personal data online.
