OTP Bank won this yearʼs Hungarian round of Deloitteʼs "Green Frog" award, recognizing the best non-financial reports by companies, with BorsodChem winning an award for the best first report. Both companies progress to the CEE finals of the competition.

Since 2000, the award recognizes corporate environmental and social responsibility and reports that reflect achievements in this area. Companies receiving national awards automatically qualify for the regional competition. Participants could submit sustainability, social responsibility, or integrated reports covering the previous one or two financial years.

This year, the panel of nine experts evaluated reports from nine applicants. Among others, the jury featured BCDSH director Irén Márta, secretary of the National Council for Sustainable Development Gábor Bartus, university professor Tibor Faragó, reCity magazine editor-in-chief Viktória Doró, and journalist Róbert Bárány.

"In connection with this yearʼs report of OTP Bank Nyrt., the jury emphasized that the complex activity of the company was presented transparently and reasonably in its report," says Ákos Lukács, senior manager - environment, sustainability, climate change at Deloitte Hungary.

"The focus was on the domestic operation of the group, but it is positive that the reader can get an overview of the bankʼs regional operations and role. The first report of BorsodChem Zrt. Has received a special prize because it contains well-structured, transparent, sector-specific, and fully relevant information in an easily accessible and understandable way."

Bence Gáspár, head of communications at OTP Bank, said: "It is a great pleasure for us that OTP Bank won the Green Frog for the second time in three years. Sustainability as a goal is not just an external expectation or constraint for us, but it comes from the dedication and the inner spirit of the OTP Group."

He added: "Although the award recognizes our sustainability report, we also consider that we have been rewarded for our strategy in the field, the work we have done, and the results achieved, as the actual performance is translated into a report based on the objective criteria. We will continue to consciously follow our strategy to achieve new results in the area of sustainability."

This year a number of companies committed to environmental protection and sustainability submitted reports, such as MOL Group, Heineken Hungária Zrt., Zwack Unicum Nyrt. and ALTEO Group. In line with international trends, the role of sustainable development goals (SDGs) is increasingly prevalent in the submitted reports, Deloitte says.
