Gov't to submit EU funding framework to Brussels in mid-December

Ecosystem

The government will submit branch and regional operative programs together to Brussels in the middle of December, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány said on Monday, following a meeting of the National Development Council.

The programs provide the framework for Hungary's EU funding during the 2007-2013 budgetary period. Gyurcsány said temporary action plans would be drawn up in order to allow applications for funding available during the period to be submitted, before the programs are actually approved by Brussels. He added that the European Commission would take 3-4 months to approve the operative programs. Those applying for funding in January or February should be aware that some changes could be made to the applications based on the Commission's final approval, he said. Gyurcsány said Hungary's co-financing requirement for EU funding was ensured in the draft 2007 budget. (Mti-Eco)
