Varga to set up competitiveness council

Economy minister Mihály Varga is expected to establish a National Competitiveness Council by the end of this month, according to a decree published in the latest issue of Magyar Közlöny, the official gazette, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

The soon-to-be established council is expected to provide opinions on initiatives relevant for the competitiveness of the country’s economy and to give policy recommendations to the government on how to improve competitiveness, the decree says, according to MTI. 

The economy minister said at the end of last month he would propose the establishment of the council, which will be drawn from members of academia, the business world and the public sector.
