Unions association head resigns after 20 years

István Gaskó, who has headed the unions association Liga for twenty years resigned from his position on Wednesday, Hungarian daily Magyar Hírlap reported today.

Liga announced Gaskóʼs resignation in a statement and thanked him for his work. The association will be overseen by Gaskóʼs co-chairs until the association decides on a replacement in the next six months, the paper noted.

Gaskó headed railway workers union VDSZSZ from 1991 until May of last year, when he was not re-elected, Magyar Hírlap said.
