Treasury reviews public sector payroll complaints

In Hungary

The Hungarian State Treasury has a mandate to immediately review any complaints involving public sector payroll, József Dancsó, the Treasuryʼs chairman told Hungarian news agency MTI on Saturday.

The chairman said the Treasury received 99 payroll complaints in December. The Treasury can only deal with the complaints of which it is informed, he added.

A number of public sector employees in cities around the country had been shorted HUF 30,000-50,000, or up to HUF 100,000 in some cases, of their pay, Hungarian online daily index.hu reported.

Dancsó said that the Treasury introduced a centralized payroll system for public sector employees in September of last year. The system, which has sharply reduced the number of payroll errors, is expected to generate savings of HUF 2 billion, he added.
