The winners of applications for licences to sell tobacco under a new state concession will be announced by April 23, at the latest, the communications director for National Tobacco Trade Nonprofit, which is overseeing the market change, said in Wednesday's issue of daily Magyar Nemzet. Legislation approved last September establishes a state monopoly on the retail sale of tobacco products from July 1, 2013. Businesses had until February 22 to apply for tobacco sales licences. The deadline for evaluating the applications is 30 days, extendable by another 30 days.
