Tax office uncovers €400 mln tax evasion for 2012
The tax office NAV revealed total tax evasion of HUF 121 billion last year, including large cases of VAT evasion, national daily Magyar Nemzet said on Friday. Investigators have managed to recover around a quarter of the total sum or 28 billion forints by confiscating cash, vehicles, jewelry and real estate from the tax violators. A total of 14,000 criminal procedures were initiated. VAT evasion was suspected in around 1,500 cases representing a total value of over 60 billion forints.
