Tax office turns to foreign counterparts in probes of Hungarians

History

Hungaryʼs National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) in the first half of the year filed approximately 2,000 requests to its foreign counterparts regarding Hungarian companies and individuals, Hungarian economic daily Napi Gazdaság reported today.

NAV spokesperson Péter András Kis told the paper that the authority chiefly requested counterparts in Germany, Slovakia and Romania to clarify value added tax issues. This involved the foreign connections of Hungarian businesses in the majority of cases, while on occasion, NAV contacted foreign counterparts as they had no authority over clarifying some of the issues, the spokesperson told the paper.
