The Hungarian subsidiary of Suzuki has raised this yearʼs sales target in the country to 11,000 vehicles, the Japanese car manufacturer told Hungarian news agency MTI today.

Sales of Suzukiʼs revamped SX4 S-Cross model could double by yearʼs end, said marketing director Péter Tóth. In January-August, Suzuki sold 837 of the SUVs, he added.

Sales of Suzukiʼs Vitara SUV came to 4,346 during the period to give the company just under a 25% market share in Hungary.

Suzuki also sold 1,123 sub-compact Swift models.

All three cars are made at Suzukiʼs plant in Esztergom. The plant is expected to turn out about 200,000 vehicles this year.

Last year, some 7,500 Suzukis were sold in Hungary. Sales peaked in 2008, before the global economic crisis, at 24,854.
