Wages in the Czech Republic Fall in Q2

Figures

The average real monthly wages in the Czech Republic fell 3.1% from a year earlier in the second quarter of 2023, following an upwardly revised 6.7% slump in the previous period, data from the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) showed on Monday.

It marks the seventh consecutive quarter of declines in real wages as the country is still struggling with elevated inflation, although it slowed to an annual 8.8% in July.

The average gross monthly nominal wage was CZK 43,193 (EUR 1,789.70) in Q2, which is by CZK 3,101, or 7.7%, more than in the corresponding period of 2022.

Compared to the first quarter of 2023, the seasonally adjusted average wages grew 1.5%.
