Unemployment Rate Rises to 4%

The number of unemployed people aged 15–74 increased by 38,000 to 198,000 between May–July 2023, increasing the unemployment rate increased by 0.7 percentage points to 4%, according to the latest data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH). 

The number of unemployed among men was 106,000, their unemployment rate rose by 0.6 percentage points to 4%. 

Among women, the number of unemployed people was 92,000, their unemployment rate increased by 0.8 percentage points to 4%.

In a separate release, the latest KSH data reported the average number of employed people aged 15-74 1 was 4.745 million people in July, 32,000 more than a year ago. 

Between May-July 2023, the number of employed persons was 29,000 more, 4.728 mln. 

While the number of workers in the domestic primary labor market increased by 22,000 and the number of workers abroad by 14,000, the number of public employees decreased by 7,000.
